Research ecosystem

About the labs, server and application

Comp2Bio and OmixLab are research labs in this computational biology ecosystem. PathoTrack is a related server for genomic surveillance, while ThermoMutDB 2.0 is the application for protein mutation thermodynamics.

Comp2Bio PathoTrack

Comp2Bio · Research lab

Computational biology across institutions

Comp2Bio develops computational methods, biological databases and data-driven systems for molecular biology, genomics and public health. The group works as a collaborative network involving universities and research centers, including CERI, ITA, UFPel and UFMG.

OmixLab · Research lab

Bioinformatics for modern biotechnology

Founded in 2019 at the Federal University of Pelotas (UFPel), OmixLab is led by Professor Federico Schmitt Kremer. The group applies data science, data engineering and machine learning to bioinformatics to meet the needs of modern biotechnology. It is based at the Bioinformatics and Proteomics Laboratory (BioPro-Lab), led by Professor Luciano da Silva Pinto.

PathoTrack · Server

Genomic surveillance and dashboards

PathoTrack is a server for genomic surveillance, data analytics and public health dashboards, connecting computational infrastructure with real-world needs in outbreak monitoring and decision support.

ThermoMutDB · Application

Protein mutation thermodynamics

ThermoMutDB 2.0 modernizes the original thermodynamic mutation database with MongoDB-backed records, curation workflows and a streamlined REST API for programmatic access.
